    You must complete a minimum of 15 college-preparatory ("a-g") courses:

    a. History/Social Science: 2 years
    b. English: 4 years
    c. Mathematics: 3 years, 4 recommended
    d. Laboratory Science: 2 years, 3 recommended
    e. Language other than English: 2 years, 3 recommended
    f. Visual and Performing Arts: 1 year
    g. College-Preparatory Elective: 1 year

    Test Scores

    You must take the ACT with Writing or the SAT Reasoning Test by December of your senior year.

    * SAT Subject Tests are not required, but you may want to take them to demonstrate subject mastery, satisfy an “a-g” requirement or apply for a major that recommends them. For example, the Bourns College of Engineering and the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences recommend Math Level 2 and either Chemistry or Physics.

  • Write Your Personal Statement
    Respond to two prompts (General Prompt and Freshman or Transfer Prompt)

    One general and either the freshman or transfer. Use a maximum of 1,000 words total. Allocate the word count as you wish, but each answer should be at least 250 words.

    General Prompt

    (All): Tell us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution or experience that is important to you. What about this quality or accomplishment makes you proud and how does it relate to the person you are?

    Freshman
    Describe the world you come from — for example, your family, community or school — and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations.
    Transfer
    What is your intended major? Discuss how your interest in the subject developed and describe any experience you have had in the field — such as volunteer work, internships and employment, participation in student organizations and activities — and what you have gained from your involvement.

    Print your receipt.
    Watch for a confirmation email. As soon as you apply, you should receive one. If you do not, contact ucinfo@applyucsupport.net, (800) 207-1710 (US) or (661) 336-5723 (outside US).
    Create a My UCR Account and link it to your application to get the most up-to-date information on your admissions status. Freshmen admission notification begins mid-January. Transfer admission notification begins March 1.
    Update your application (transfer students). Log in and update your grades and course records by January 31.
    You can make changes to your application after you apply!
