Assistant Professor of Chemistry W. Hill Harman has been awarded an NSF Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) award for 2018. Dr. Harman will receive $678,500 to support his project "Hybrid Borane Platforms for the Activation of Small Molecules of Energy Consequence." His group is developing new boron-based small molecule platforms for the catalysis of energy storage reactions such as hydrogen evolution and the reduction of CO2 to chemical fuels. The award also supports ongoing outreach efforts to local community college students for the promotion of advanced study in chemistry and related fields, including summer research opportunities in Dr. Harman's lab.
